When asked why they chose to name Presbyterian SeniorCare in their estate plans, Mitch and Rev. Jami Possinger say, quite matter of fact, “Presbyterian SeniorCare deserves our philanthropic support. The organization is run well, the leadership has their heart in the right place and the mission to serve older adults is seen in everything they do.”
You may be wondering—how do they know that? Mitch is the CEO of Cura Hospitality, as well as on the Presbyterian SeniorCare Foundation Board of Directors. We’ve been partnered with Cura for several years as the company provides dining options to the residents at our Washington and Longwood at Oakmont campuses. Mitch says, “Providing services to older adults, especially in dining, opens us up to all sorts of feedback from residents and family members. But what’s most important about that feedback is that 99.9% of the time, it’s positive.”
Planned giving is a very personal decision. Even after you’ve made the decision to name
an organization in your estate plans, you want to be sure your assets are going to the right place. Having this “insider” information helped to make the decision a little bit easier for the Possinger’s.
Jami says, “We really believe in the concept of paying it forward. The spirit of generosity begins at home and we want to pass on the importance of supporting good causes, causes like Presbyterian SeniorCare, on to our children. Seniors are a vulnerable group, how we treat them sets the tone for who we are as people. We want to be sure the supports are there now, and in the future, to take care of them. And that’s why we give to Presbyterian SeniorCare today, and have decided to leave some of our legacy.”
